Frederick Douglass Day Celebration | 12pm
About this event
LWV Greenwich and YWCA Greenwich are pleased to co-sponsor the annual Douglass Day celebration hosted by the Greenwich Historical Society on February 14 from noon to 3pm. This event not only honors Frederick Douglass’s birthday, it is also part of a national gathering of adults and students for the purpose of crowdsourcing the transcription of handwritten letters from the Library of Congress, creating new digital resources for those researching Black history. This year, the Library of Congress will be making documents available from their African American Perspectives Collection for the transcribe-a-thon.
Bring your laptop and join us for the birthday party! You can register and learn more about the event here.
