2026 Connecticut Elections

The 2026 election year includes both primary and general elections that will determine who represents Connecticut at the state and federal levels. This page provides Greenwich voters with the information they need to register, make a voting plan, and cast an informed ballot.

Primary Election Day: August 11, 2026 | General Election Day: November 3, 2026

Connecticut has closed primaries. Only registered Democrats may vote in the Democratic Primary, and only registered Republicans may vote in the Republican Primary.

Election Day

Vote in person at your polling place from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Early Voting

Vote in person at Greenwich Town Hall during the early voting period.

Primary: August 3–9: hours are 10AM-6PM, with extended hours of 8AM to 8PM on Tuesday and Thursday.
General Election: October 19–November 1: hours are 10AM-6PM. In the second (last) week, there are extended hours of 8AM to 8PM on Tuesday and Thursday.

Absentee Ballot

Connecticut now allows eligible voters to cast absentee ballots without providing a qualifying excuse.

Apply online, download an application, or obtain one from the Town Clerk. Ballots may be returned by mail, ballot drop box, or to the Town Clerk's office. To be counted, absentee ballots must be received by the close of polls (8 PM) on the Election Day.

2026 Primary Ballot

Connecticut has closed primaries. Unaffiliated voters who wish to vote in a party primary must affiliate with that party by the applicable deadline.

If you are a U.S. citizen, Greenwich resident and will be 18 years old by 11/3/2026, you can register in-person with the Registrar of Voters at Greenwich Town Hall. You must be able to prove your identify and residency. In-person registration deadlines apply before each election.

Greenwich Candidate Debates

LWV Greenwich will hold public candidate debates for CT Senate and CT Representatives on Wednesday, October 14, at First Congregational Church of Greenwich.

CT-4 Congressional Debate

LWV Greenwich is partnering with other lower Fairfield County LWV chapters to host a candidate debate for U.S. House of Representatives, CT 4th District on Monday, October 19, at Westport Library.
