This engaging, drop-in event is open to the public and designed to spark the interest of our youngest citizens, to: Learn about local, state, and national government. Discover how young people can make a positive impact in their community. Earn a citizenship or democracy badge, aligning with their Girl Scout level.
The event features an expo-style format with interactive, hands-on activities with elected leaders in town, state and national positions. Representatives across political party will create a positive and empowering environment and event.

LWV Greenwich and the Greenwich Historical Society are delighted to welcome award-winning reporter and acclaimed author of The Woman’s Hour, Elaine Weiss, to discuss her new book, Spell Freedom. Long-listed for the Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Non-Fiction, the book charts the efforts of four ordinary citizens in the South as they established secret schools to help black citizens overcome onerous Jim Crow laws and register to vote. The conversation will be moderated by academic leader and author, Susan Herbst. Professor Herbst is President Emeritus of the University of Connecticut where she currently serves as University Professor of Political Science.

A Community Conversation with Tax Assessor Lauren Elliott & BET Chair David Weisbrod
The LWV Greenwich is honored to welcome Lauren Elliott and David Weisbrod for the next in our series of community conversations with key leaders in Greenwich Government. The Town of Greenwich recently completed a mandatory town-wide revaluation for the Grand List, with new property values to be reflected on tax bills as of July 1, 2026. This Zoom conversation is an opportunity to learn more about the Town department and Board that oversaw this revaluation, why and how the revaluation was done, what it means for your next tax bill, the appeals process, and available tax relief programs. Attendees may submit questions in advance as well as during the event.

Greenwich's State Senator Ryan Fazio (District 36, R) and State Representatives Tina Courpas (District 149, R), Stephen Meskers (District 150, D), and Hector Arzeno (District 151, D) will provide an overview of the recently concluded legislative session and a view to next year. Followed by audience Q & A. You can also submit one question for the panelists when you register online.
Fee for members and non members is $30 per person which includes Tapas and open wine & beer bar.
