GREENWICH COMMUNITY TV
PURA PRELIMINARILY DENIES REGIONAL TAKEOVER

 

In February, the League of Women Voters of Greenwich was one of a number of organizations submitting comments opposing a proposal before the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA). The proposal would have replaced Greenwich’s long-standing, town-focused community-access television model with a regionalized system operated by Nutmeg Public Access Television.

LWVG raised concerns that the proposal would make it harder for residents to find and watch Greenwich-specific government meetings and would weaken local control of an important public-information resource. Our comments were grounded in the League’s commitment to government transparency and an informed electorate.

PURA has now issued a preliminary decision denying Nutmeg’s petition. A final decision is expected late in September 2026. Until that decision is issued, LWVG will continue to monitor the proceeding.
