The program featured an overview of the school budget and approval process by LWV Greenwich Voter's Services Chair, Becky Gillan.
Following was a 20 minute moderated Q&A on the proposed Board of Education operating and capital budgets with Dr. Toni Jones, Superintendent of Schools, Peter Bernstein, Board of Education Chair, and First Selectman Fred Camillo.
A second 20-minute moderated Q&A included a discussion of the issues involved in the approval process: Mike Mason, Chair, Board of Estimate and Taxation; Leslie Moriarty, Chair, Democratic Caucus of the Board of Estimate and Taxation; and Kim Blank, Chair, RTM Education Committee.
The event was open to the public at no charge. 396 registered. 196 attended.
Registrants submitted up to two questions in advance for the discussion. Questions were reviewed and assigned by a pane of five.
The Zoom link was sent to all registrants the morning or February 24th. We also promoted the Zoom link more widely the day or two before and accepted many attendees who did not register. Feedback was directed toward Events Chairman,
Kris Lowe.
